What to expect from the 2021 Raptor?
An aura of mystery still surrounds the 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor, for which no release date has yet been announced. Nevertheless, the veil is slowly starting to lift. Indeed, some details are coming out here and there in connection with the new features that will be included with this new vintage.
A V8 in the pipeline?
Currently, the Raptor is powered by a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine that generates 450 horsepower, but that could well change. To be sure, fans have long been calling for a V8 in this Ford pickup, and the latest rumors suggest that they're going to get it. Thus, according to rumors, the 2021 Raptor could be hiding the same 5.2-litre V8 engine as the Ford Mustang GT500, which develops 760 horsepower. In the case of the Raptor, various sources indicate that the output would vary between 725 and 750 horsepower, which is still considerable... and enough to dethrone the 2021 RAM TRX and its 702 horsepower.
What about towing?
The towing capacity has yet to be announced, but the current model can tow up to 3,636 kg, i.e. 8,000 lb. We can therefore expect the same or even greater capacity. Moreover, the 10-speed automatic transmission is expected to return and, as with the current model, the 2021 version will only be available as a 4x4 model.
Outstanding off-road capabilities
It could already brave the toughest roads, and its new off-road features should allow it to ride even more easily on the harshest trails. The 2021 Raptor could be equipped with an all-new coil-spring suspension system to replace the existing leaf spring suspension. The result? It could travel even more easily at high speeds and this, even over difficult terrain. In addition, its wide tires—almost 35 inches—will allow it to go anywhere and enjoy high ground clearance, a must for an all-terrain vehicle.
Robust design
The Raptor already looks great, and we can expect the same for 2021. As for the exterior colours of the 2021 Ford Raptor, they should also be similar to the 8 variants of the outgoing model, namely in shades of red, blue, gray, black and white. The 2021 Raptor will undoubtedly feature a muscular front end with a wide grille and good-sized headlamps, while retaining some of the styling elements of the new 2021 F-150.
What about the interior?
While no details have filtered through as for the interior features, we can assume that Ford, true to form, will equip its Raptor with the same standard and available features as the other F-150 models. You're sure to get standard heated front seats—and available heated rear seat—dual-zone temperature control, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility, the all-new SYNC 4 technology with 8-inch or 12-inch display, and so much more. Finally, safety features such as Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane-Keeping System, Blind Spot Information System with Trailer Coverage as well as Intersection Assist will also be available on the F-150 Raptor.
What about the price of the 2021 F-150 Raptor?
The base price of the 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor is not known at this time, but for information purposes, the 2020 version is priced at an MSRP of $76,699. Depending on the features of the 2021 model, a slightly higher price can be expected, especially if the V8 is included.
